First of all, credit must to go to Scaramouche for picking a
great pairing for our first matchup. In
the Red corner, we have the Black Panther who is brilliant, highly educated,
physically gifted and well prepared for any obstacle. Our fighter from the Blue corner is the World’s
Greatest Detective, the Guardian of Gotham, the Caped Crusader, the Dark Knight
himself, the Batman. While his opponent
certainly warrants significant preparation, this battle is simply an inevitable
win for the greatest superhero of all time; once the bat-signal is in the air,
it is practically over.
The Black Panther is an excellent tracker, so the first
thing Batman does is create a diversion.
Enter the remote controlled Batmobile utilized in the 1989 movie Batman.
The Black Panther would find this brilliant piece of rocket powered awesomeness
charging directly at him, when he reacted to avoid the car, Batman
strikes. First he fires the Bat Goo gun
that we see in Batman Forever. The Panther’s physical advantages are now
gone. Wielding the Bat Sword, seen in Batman: The Brave and the Bold tv show,
he approaches his prey. This fight is
all but over. The Bat Sword is the
equivalent to a light saber from Star Wars, this weapon is beyond lethal,
hopefully Batman does not have to use it to break his one rule. An easy
handcuff application and this fight is over.
As Batman is always prepared, let’s keep in mind the other
gear he would have been carrying on this venture. A Bat Breather (Batman Forever) in case of any sort of gas attack, flash grenades
for stunning his enemy, Bat Pellets (smokescreen creating, see Batman 1989) for a quick getaway if necessary. Bat smoke grenades that carry a variety of gases. (Batman Forever) There is also the Thermite Bat grenades that burn through walls, doors, etc. (Batman Forever) He also
would have been carrying Batcetylene torch in case he was bound in any way, a
miniature flamethrower (seen in Ghosts of Batman comic book arc) and a wide
array of Batarangs for ranged fighting. All of the above would have fit easily
on his utility belt, as would his grapple gun, tranquilizer darts (Batman/Judge
Dredd: Judgment on Gotham) and not to mention night vision bat goggles.(Batman Forever) The rest of his suit
Batman brings to this fight is the edition seen in Bruce Wayne: The Road
Home. Because of the amount of power
it uses, Batman can only use it for a few patrols at a time, but for one fight
it is more than sufficient. It allows him to use Amazo's capability of copying
metahuman powers, includes Superman's heat vision, superspeed which is labelled
with SF as in The Flash's speedforce, Martian Manhunter's invisibility,
emitting a Green Lantern's ring's energy, a lasso mirroring Wonder Woman's
Lasso of Truth, and superstrength. In short, Batman wins.

The Black Panther wouldn't go into this fight without knowing Batman's research capabilities and would be looking for something as dumb as a Batmobile diversion. Even if the Batgoo was fired at him, his quick reflexes would be able to avoid incapacitation. Panther's ability to tap into the magic of the Panther deity allows him to avoid being knocked out by gas. If vibranium can resist a blast from Thor's hammer, it can certainly resist the Bat sword (was that a Star Wars ripoff or vice versa?), the tranquilizer darts, and the thermite grenades. As for the suit, there's no need for the Lasso of Truth... what's he got to hide? He's got magic and brains and near-superstrength already, and with Panther's over-developed senses and adaptability, he's able to keep track of Batman while he's invisible. The only major thing of concern is the Green Lantern's ring. However, before you think I'm conceding, remember that Panther has been taught to mentally withstand many things - a major problem for Batman, as his guilt and taking things personally gets the better of him often. While withstanding the projections from the ring, Panther can throw his dead-aim vibranium claws at the Bat, effectively ending suit and problem.
ReplyDeleteYou try to argue that Panther would be unaffected by a light saber, that sort of undercuts your argument.
DeleteIt's vibranium, not Storm Trooper armor... read up on your metals!
DeleteExactly, it's vibranium, the metal with cancer, it is in the process of shattering at all times anyway, a light saber would simply speed the process.
DeleteNo single thing in superhero lore is impenetrable, that defeats the case of the debate.
ReplyDeleteTrue, I'm sure there is a weakness. But as with Wayne's defeat by the Bronze Tiger or by Bane, it's simply a matter of wearing Batman down. You have argued elsewhere that there were extenuating circumstances in Batman's defeat by Bane and the Bronze Tiger, Batman insisted on the fight. In one version he says the first rule of fighting is cheating... but oh well...
DeleteI also think you missed exactly all that the suit can do. One, he can copy the metahuman powers of others,(meaning he can do anything that Panther can do) then he has capabilities from Superman, and Green Lantern, he can be invisible (good luck hitting him with your weapons)and the superspeed of the Flash himself. The suit is limited in that it cannot be used all the time, but for only one fight, it's gold because it is like fighting 5 superheroes in one.
