Okay, so we had to lay ground rules. Each of us picked 6 team members - my friend from the Justice League and I from the Avengers. They have to be full members - not ones that are constantly stay-and-leave or that appear from time to time. There will be several sets of rounds. The first set of rounds will be "Matched." We flipped for choice - it fell to me and
we will alternate matching in an interesting scenario each set of super
heroes. We will try to avoid "boring matches" that merely pit the same brute force against the same brute force - in other words, Superman vs. Thor (although in my not-so-humble opinion, Thor's hammer would give him the advantage). Once a set of super heroes has battled a round, they can't be used again in that round, whether they've won or lost. We flipped for choice - it fell to me and we will alternate matching in a perfect scenario each set of super heroes. The second set of rounds will come from a whole new lineup of heroes and will do the same as the last. Finally, we intend to have a set of duo rounds. I will add more later as we decide on how this will work.
The "Rounds" consist of battling comparison/contrasts of the superheroes with wits and words. We can use arguments from the movies, comics, etc., to prove our points. As long as it's not fan fiction, we're good. We then argue the pros and cons of each.
We have also added that the characters can only use weapons or tools that they have used in the past. Some characters have their tools of trade like the Green Lantern's ring or Thor's hammer. Those are fine. But for figures like Batman and the Black Panther who use different tools at different times, neither of them could not use the technology from Stark's armor to defeat Thor or Firestorm. In other words, everyone can't just pull kryptonite out of their pockets to defeat Superman (otherwise, he's a dead duck with everyone...hmmm...)
You may think we have too much time on our hands... not really. You may think we're complete Looney Tunes... probably. But the purpose of this is just to have fun, relieve some stress, and enjoy conversation about superheroes - especially in light of the recently epic, awesome, and just plain long amazing Avengers movie. Let's have fun!
